It is a wise thing to do to know your setups current draw before one would buy a certain battery pack for optimization AND prevent battery failure in the future. Its a best practice not to go beyond the battery pack's discharge rate during its operation to prevent internal damage.

Amp meter is placed between AEG unit and the Battery, connect the corresponding plugs/terminals.
